Building Services Officer
South Waikato District Council is thriving, and we want you to join us! Our Regulatory team is currently seeking a competent, detail oriented, and hardworking candidate to fill the role of Building Services Officer.
This role is responsible for administering and providing Territorial Authority inspection / monitoring services, resolution of breaches and enforcement action, and working with the Building Act and associated Council Bylaws in order to ensure positive outcomes for the South Waikato District. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for providing administrative support to the wider Building Control team. This includes:
- Compliance Schedules
- Building Warrant of Fitness audits and management
- Swimming pool inspections
- Monitoring & Enforcement - Re-locatable dwellings, derelict and dangerous buildings
- Importing and issuing granted Building Consents and processing LIM's
- Administrative duties including invoicing, reporting and customer service
Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience (eg Risk/Compliance, Law, Construction) or extensive industry experience as well as a current full driver's licence. We are looking for someone with effective communication skills, the ability to learn quickly and work accurately, and be a team player while also being able to take responsibility for individual tasks. This role will suit someone who is able to interpret and demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation and technical information. Previous compliance/inspection experience with knowledge of current building materials and methods would be an advantage but is not essential.
